Bill Keane was born in Caracas, Venezuela and grew up mostly in New Jersey.  He is a graduate of the University of Miami and Drew University, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and an Master of Divinity (cum laude).

From October 2001 through June 2002, under the auspices of the Salvation Army, Bill worked as an on-site chaplain at Ground Zero in New York City. His images taken there were highlighted in a piece by WTNH-TV NewsChannel 8.  Those images captured on site are now part of the 9/11 Memorial Archives.

From September into October 2005, Bill worked in New Orleans as a chaplain with the US Department of Health and Human Services recovering the remains of those who perished during Hurricane Katrina.

After beginning a career in radio broadcasting, Bill was ordained an American Baptist minister in 1983. He started ministry, working for 5 years in the Uniting Church in Australia (Congregational, Methodist, Presbyterian).  He has served in Connecticut since 1988 and during that time he has made two appearances on the ABC network televised “LIVE with Regis and Kathie Lee.”  In addition, he has written and voiced more than 100 public service and religious based radio commercials airing on KISS95.7 FM, 96.5TIC  FM, WTIC-AM, STAR 99.9FM, WEBE108-FM, WELI-AM, and WILI-AM.

In July 2004, Bill was a keynote speaker at Encounter! the national gathering of American Baptist Youth in Estes Park Colorado.  As a long-time member of the Branford Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking, Bill has written and produced 6 television commercials broadcast on the COMCAST/xfinity Network, and he has been the emcee of the Branford Festival for the past 15 years.

Bill is a writer and photographer whose words and images have won several awards and found publication in magazines such as Australian Camera Craft, TIME, NEWSWEEK and US NEWS & WORLD REPORT. Bill was awarded 1st Place in the 2000 Olympus Inc. Summer Competition and he won Best Documentary in both the 2000 and 2001 ATT Television CAP awards. Bill’s images have been showcased at the Wink Art & Design Gallery, Common Grounds, Artisans Harbor in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, and in the St. Raphael’s Hospital Art Corridor, New Haven.

In January of 2015 a new exhibit of his work was displayed in the Willoughby Wallace Library, Stony Creek, and in October of 2015 he placed a photographic exhibition at the Blackstone Library in Branford, CT.  Another exhibit has been set for 2017 in the New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael’s Art Corridor.

On March 13th & 20th 2016, Bill was the lead source and OpEd writer for two Hartford Courant articles exposing a 15 year denominational mishandling and cover-up of a predator.

Bill is the Senior Minister of the First Baptist Church of Branford.  He is married to Lisa Bachiochi, and they have three wonderful children: Amanda, Billy, and Niue—along with one fine son-in-law, Joe, and granddaughters Tennessee, Nikola and Zasu rounding out the family.
